Grimm Episode Review – 3×16 – The Show Must Go On

The Show Must Go On” was a really interesting episode focused on a carnival traveling show that Nick stumbles due to two murders.

The episode showed us Adalind’s journey to leave Europe and go to Portland, more sweet wedding moments, and a murder that Grimmsters will be mourning.

Wesen carnival

I really liked this case of the week. It was a great way to show us some wesen we have seen in previous episodes including Blutbad, Siegbarste, Dämonfeuer, and others. Also, Monroe and Rosalee going undercover reminded me of season one, when Monroe helped Nick in Organ Grinder, Last Grimm Standing, and Islands of Dreams. It was a great twist at the end when it was revealed that the Ring Master was the killer, not Max (guest star Sam Witwer). The ring master deserve his demise by the wesen he abused. Love that Nick show his disgust at the carnaval show where the wesen had to wogue for entertainment. It would be nice to see the circus characters back in another episode. I also enjoyed that the couple in the carnaval show were a Blutbad and a Fuchsbau, a great paralel to Monroe and Rosalee.

Adalind, Meisner and the demon baby

As Adalind and her baby are getting closer to being safe, Sean finds help to get Adalind back to Portland (as promos show, we already know who that person is). I’m really happy that this storyline is finally moving to Portland. Everytime, Adalind is in town, she always brings trouble and fun. I can’t wait to watch Nick’s reaction to Adalind’s return plus the baby.

Another observation: Adalind is getting sweeter in the last episodes. Has motherhood change her a little bit? She was concerned about Sebastian, and save Meisner.

Squirrel Murder in Europe (Oh no Squirrel, we’ll miss you Sebastian)

I knew that Sebastian or Meisner were in most danger to die by the hands of the Verrat, and after the last couple episodes, death seemed to get closer to Sebastian. Although a “sacrifice” was spoiled in the NBC official description of the episode a couple of weeks ago, a part of me had a small hope that neither of them would be kill. Sadly, Sebastian left us in tonight’s episode. Sebastian was the character who was always at risk of getting killed if the Royals found out where his loyalty laid on. Since his first appearance on the show in season 2, Sean Renard always gave him various tasks by cellphone that will surely help Renard be updated of everything that happened with the Royals in Vienna. Grimmsters, we’ll miss him. At least, he was badass in the end.

Monroe asks Nick a very important question

The dinner scene between Nick, Monroe, Rosalee, and Juliette was really sweet. Monroe asking Nick to be his best man at the wedding was a very touching scene between those two characters that solidified the deep friendship they shared together. Another highlight was Nick’s dream about the wedding, which makes it more exciting to see how it’s going to be. We know it’s not going to be a a peaceful and delightful wedding as Monroe and Rosalee are expecting. A Grimm and a lot of wesen in the same room? Not a very good idea. Is Nick’s dream a warning of what’s going to happen at the wedding? We’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully, Nick will still be Monroe’s best man.

Super excited for the next couple of episode that features the return of Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as Kelly Burkhardt, Nick’s mom.

So grimmsters, what are your thoughts about this episode? Will you miss Sebastian as much as we will?
